Clients choose SpencePC because we do outstanding work for fair compensation. Unlike our competitors, we encourage the use of alternative-fee agreements that more closely align our clients’ interests with the Firm’s interests. As a result, our clients pay only for the value they receive.
Our philosophy is simple: be outstanding and offer a unique value proposition. Hourly billing creates the wrong incentive for attorneys to work longer, not smarter. Instead, we encourage alternative-fee arrangements that reward success and efficiency. By doing so, our attorneys remain focused on obtaining the best results for our clients in the most cost-efficient manner.
We are attorneys who specialize in intellectual property and complex litigation. We hold science, engineering, and law degrees from the nation’s top schools. Following our education, each of us received years of additional training from prestigious, top-tier law firms. Our billing model ensures we remain focused on obtaining the best results in the most cost-efficient manner.
SpencePC’s Jacob Graham recently attended the inaugural, launch event for Chicago-Kent’s Patent HUB on October 14, 2015. The Patent HUB is a program that facilitates the placement of under-resourced Illinois inventors with pro bono patent prosecution counsel. The program acts as Illinois’ hub for the USPTO Patent Pro Bono Program that currently offers programs in all 50 states. Section 32 of the America Invents Act led to the creation of the Patent Pro Bono Program by requiring the USPTO to “work with and support intellectual property law associations across the country in the establishment of pro bono programs designed to assist financially under-resourced independent inventors and small businesses.”
Speakers at the launch event included Jennifer McDowell of the USPTO, who administered the development of the program, and Congressmen Danny Davis and Bobby Rush of the U.S. House of Representatives. Further information on the Chicago-Kent Patent Hub can be found here. The Patent HUB makes patent counsel available to low-income Illinois inventors. In turn, it promotes access to the U.S. Patent system, boosting the economy, and significantly reduces the daunting cost, regulatory, and technical impediments that under-resourced inventors face. SpencePC , as a member firm of the program, has agreed to offer its services and act as pro bono patent counsel to these inventors in need.
